When I recently heard that my ex-mate’s new flick would have a 14 minute sex sequence with Lindsay Lohan taking on 3 porn actors,(3 on 1) I knew it was a grand ritual flick. The director (who wrote another grand ritual classic , Taxi Driver) has no problem throwing out masonic signs and displaying his special ring in photos. He’s supposedly 66 too. This newest flick is a sort of a career rebound for him if it isn’t too much of a trainwreck. It’s getting a lot of bad publicity.
They probably had to convince Lindsay Lohan it was had a special, symbolic meaning for the upcoming grand ritual to get her to star in it. (and work for nothing)
Room 237 definitely an enlightened one’s / grand ritual celebration flick. Throwing out 5 crackpot theories on the Shining totally deflecting from the real hidden meanings while putting in its own little ritualistic touches. No wonder it’s getting a lot of love from the press and intelligentsia when it is so unbelievable. And from my ex-schoolmate who I am beginning to think is more and more part of the clan. He has his new film coming out in early August which is appropriately titled. Actually it is supposed to be a double release date: August 2 and 9 (29). The film was completed well over a year ago so there should be meaning to the release date. It’s independently financed so one would think that they would have released it by now to recoup their investments. (They did sell the rights to a distributor for more than the films cost though)
The July 12, 1987 reference I mentioned yesterday was the date one of the 5 cranks mentioned in the Room 237 movie wrote an article in the Washington Post elaborating his crackpot theory on what Stanley Kubrick was really trying to say in the Shining. Don’t remember which theory it was; they were all ridiculous. The fact that the Washington Post gave him a forum to express this theory really tells it had a specific ritualistic meaning serving a double duty as the then recently released new Kubrick film Full Metal Jacket was likewise doing, hinting at the upcoming lesser grand ritual and the even more important grand ritual double five years later. July 12, or 3 of 3 of 3 of 3 had no meaning in 1987. Kubrick’s the Shining doesn’t really have any 1987 references; they point more to 2013 (42(6×7 or 13), red white and blue colors throughout the film hinting at July, 237 year anniversary to 1776, the 21 photos in 3 rows in the Overlook Hotel with the Nicholson July 4th photo in the middle and more …..see next week, Carmageddon anniversary).
Now we have the Zimmerman trial coming to a conclusion and making Bradley’s ode to the ’29 ’92 ritual looking very prescient…….21 years later.
I could go on about the recent Asiana airlines crash or now the Boeing 787 malfunction but that would be too revealing.
